Certified Community Leadership Practitioner | 2025 CORE Training Course

Candidates must complete 16 hours of CORE training before proceeding to the pre-designated coursework. The CORE training will be offered virtually over four separate days. Participants must attend each of the following sessions in full:
- Monday, January 30: 12:00 - 4:00 PM ET
- Monday, February 6: 12:00 - 4:00 PM ET
- Monday, February 27: 12:00 - 4:00 PM ET
- Monday, March 6: 12:00 - 2:00 PM ET

- Module 3. Program Strategies
- Module 4. Program Systems
- Module 5. Program Sustainability
The same ZOOM link will be used for all sessions and shared the week prior to the first session.

A Pacesetter Membership is a select membership level specially designed for ALP members who are the most progressive...those who serve as the models and exemplars of the industry. A Pacesetter is someone who thinks two steps ahead, not where we are today but where we should be in the future.
About the Moderator: Shalia Ford is the Director of Leadership Programs at FOCUS St. Louis. In this role she designs and facilitates experiential civic leadership development programs for women and high school students. Graduates of these program are transformed both personally and professionally as they gained a deeper understanding of themselves and the St. Louis region, built diverse networks and expanded their capacity to make positive impact. Shalia’s career in the nonprofit sector spans more than 20 years with expertise in nonprofit leadership and administration, strategic visioning, program design from idea to implementation and youth development. She previously held leadership roles with the YWCA Metro St. Louis and NAACP National Office.
A graduate of the University of Minnesota, she holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in African American Studies as well as a Master of Business Administration from Fontbonne University. She is a graduate of FOCUS St. Louis’ Women in Leadership – Class 52. A life-long learner, Shalia has earned several certifications and enthusiastically seeks opportunities to grow and develop as a leader.
With the heart of a servant leader, she volunteers her time, talent and treasure with the following organizations focused on empowering women: Women’s Foundation of Greater St. Louis, RUNG for Women and Rooted Sisters.
Shalia resides in St. Louis County, MO with her husband and their school-aged son.

Every program has fundamental principles it conveys as part of its curriculum. What theory or theories best embody what you are trying to teach? How can you create activities and adult learning practices that help your participants practice those theories? Relate key learning to community leadership development responsibilities and describe the relationship between Servant Leadership and Community Leadership.

- Learn sample activities and processes to help participants grasp and begin incorporating these theories
- Practice sharing theory fundamentals in meaningful adult learning model techniques
